If it always happens when rising from sitting or standing it might be orthostatic hypotension. Blood pressure takes a big drop when getting up so you have to do it slow.
I actually just took my blood pressure while standing because I was feeling the pressure again. Normally my blood pressure is about 103/76, but I just took it now and it was 128/88 ..... so that makes no sense to me.. because I thought of hypotension also... very strange!!

A family member has orthostatic hypotension and actually passed out in the shower. Had to lie on the floor until the BP came back up. Said she was deaf and dizzy and couldn't hear while it was happening and right afterwards. The BP was WAY low though and took a few minutes to go back up. The doctor diagnosed it by listening to her heart while lying down, then to sitting, then to standing. Listened the whole time and could hear a difference in the beats. You could maybe have someone come test your BP while lying down, then immediately after going to sitting, then after going to standing to see if there is a difference. That is how we tested my dad when he had that problem and the doctor didn't catch it because he wasn't with him all the time. His would dip low then go back up to normal later.
Thats how I get.. where i am practically deaf. Its getting worse because i just went to the store and everytime I'd get out of my car it would do it.. I have a bad neck ache too UGH. I think I'm going to make a dr's appointment for tomorrow. So what did they do to treat your family member??

Said it can happen from not drinking enough water (being dehydrated) and wants her to drink more. Also get up slowly so the body has time to adjust to the change and the BP won't drop so fast and all of a sudden. You can google orthostatic hypotension and find out a lot about it. She does get the pressure in her head, too. If it continues to be a problem or gets worse and happens a lot she has to be seen again, otherwise it is just be on the lookout and rise slowly, be careful when showering, and drink more water. Right now it is not too often.
Have you thought about your blood sugar levels? If your blood sugar is too low you can feel dizzy. Also I went to the dr a while back b/c I was dizzy and off balance when I stood or sometimes just when I was standing and the 1st thing she asked was am I drinking enough water? It's hard to get in the 8-8oz glasses but honestly I havn't had these spells since making sure to drink enough water!

Yesterday they took my blood so will vbe checking my blood sugar. I just wonder if having low blood sugar can give you the pressure headache when standing? I've been drinking tons of water too just in case i was a little dehydrated.

Hi everybody! Ok, I thought I'd post here and see if any of you have this weird thing going on. (thats the only way to describe! ha) Ok, sometimes when I stand up from sitting for awhile I have horrible pressure and pain in my head and upper neck. Its like its my whole head and then I cant hear very well, its like I need to pop my ears by yawning, but it doesnt help. I also feel like faint kind of and my legs feel weak. It goes away in a few minutes but it scares me! Its the strangest thing. Its been happening for the last week. It happened last night at church and was the worst its been, I seriously thought I was going to faint!! Anybody else experience this? I was thinking about going to the doctor or something.. I have no clue what it could be from.
Thanks!!
***UPDATE****
Well, I went to the doctor today and they took some blood to run a lot of tests. My doctor scheduled me for an MRI of the brain for Wednesday, he said he wanted it done this week. He said that it could be a number of things, one being fluid on my brain... so I'm kinda scared. I hope that its nothing, but it is still happening, the pressure headaches. He checked my blood pressure and it was good. So I'm just hoping the MRI doesnt show anything bad!!
