I have no idea, but I have never heard of that. I have a different prescription for each eye, so the question has never come up for me I guess. I also have disposable contacts. Did she tell you the reason she was told as to why you can't switch them?
She said if one eye was "stronger" immune wise than the other then putting a contact in it that has something the weaker eye might get an infection. I was going to ask my dr but of course its 4th of july so they are all gone! I guess I have never had an eye infection so I never thought about it!

I can see if you had an eye infection in one eye not to put that contact in the other eye to contaminate that one, but if you have an eye infection you should not be putting that bad contact back into either eye and should be throwing it away.
I actually know the answer to this question!!! lol. I have an astigmatism in my left eye. My eye doc said that, since I have the same RX in both eyes, it didn't matter which contact went into which eye. However, because of the astigmatism, I have found that I can't switch them around, because the larger eyeball seems to "stretch" my one contact, while the smaller shaped one with the astigmatism is ok. So, if I switch them, the contact on my left eye will float all day and drive me crazy, while the one on my right will be ok (since it was the smaller one.) Then, when I try to switch them back, it will still float becasue my right eye stretched the other one out. So, after that long winded explanation, yeah, you can switch em, but, if you have an astigmatism, try it out first to see if they float, if not, great, if so, well, don't switch em, lol. BTW- the eye doc said that only happens to a small percentage of people with astigmatisms, it depends on how severe they are.

Okay, here is my issue. Is it okay to wear your contcts in a different eye? One of my friends told me I should not wear a contact in one eye one day and the other eye the next day. I have 3 different contacts (2 colors and one plain) both eyes are the same script so I did not think it would matter... I only have 2 cases so I usually put them in the same holder instead of their own. Any one know?
