I just read this blog and I have to say I can see it being true. I have only watched J&K+8 once and it was only for like 10 minutes. I couldn't handle watching anymore.
Interesting. I watched an episode a short time ago that had Jon and Kate looking at land to build a new house on (said they are growing out of the one they have lived in the last two years). Guess that might be the answer to living so close to Jodi and her family? Maybe they are wanting to put some distance between them if Jodi is getting the boot.
I have decided recently that Kate isn't as great as I used to think she was. They took those poor little kids to make cupcakes and then wouldn't let them eat them and she threw a fit about them getting their outfits dirty. All the work was done for them. PUT YOUR KIDS IN SOME CLOTHES THEY CAN MESS UP FOR CRYING OUT LOUD YOU TWIT. I yelled this at the tv! >:) I mean come on! Who takes their 4 year olds to make their own birthday cupcakes and then basically taunts them with it. I think she's a control freak who is spoiled rotten. I curse her when *I* am washing, folding, AND putting away ALL the dirty clothes in my house. I would love it if someone came and folded my crap and put it away for me. And paid for me to have my stomach fixed after having babies and gave my kids free coats and flew my whole family all over the country and blah blah blah. There are other huge families that aren't on reality tv who have to fend for themselves. She's a brat in my opinion.

I was thinking the same thing, only it was an episode where they were at some sort of museum with kids activities. Cara and Mady were begging to use markers to color whatever they were working on and Kate wouldn't let them because they might get it on their clothes. Which they got for free. Which she has someone else to wash for her.
How many families of 8 kids do you see all running around in pristine brand new Gymboree outfits? Let them get dirty. Let them be kids for crying out loud.

Ditto...and lets not forget the chocolate factory episode, each child got ONE small piece of chocolate at the end of the tour and she made them walk by and drop it in ziploc bags because it would spoil their dinner and OMG they would end up with some on their hands and clothes...good grief, they are KIDS and it was ONE piece of candy! I felt so bad when they dutifully paraded by, crying, and dropped their candy in their bag.

I am right there with you Momof3girlies...I think that is all what bugs me so much, they get all these things and there are a million families out there in similar situations that are barely making it and you don't see anyone rushing to help them out. In ND I worked in an office where one of our service techs had 10 kids between the ages of 1-16 when I left there in 2004 (big Catholic family, they had 2 miscarriages when I was there and I am sure they have more kids by now), I know that 1 of their kids was positively downs syndrome too. They were the greatest bunch of people in the universe, best behaved kids I have EVER seen. He worked FT and she stayed home with the kids, home schooled them all and did PT substitute work at their church school. They saved all year to go to a Catholic reunion for large families in MN every year, they weren't on any public assistance at all, their health insurance was a co-op where every family paid in a monthly premium and when they had to go to the doctor the co-op paid the bill out of the funds paid in, they grew their own food as much as possible and canned for 2 months straight to save food for winter. I hadn't went through the kids clothes for a couple years when there were major growth spurts, and I am a serious bargain shopper to boot so there was ALOT when I finally did, I took 10 HUGE garbage bags of clothes over one day and it was like Christmas morning to them. We were taking a window out of our bathroom and installing a fan and he came over to help my DH on his day off, I didn't have money to pay him but I had a big box of old kids VCR tapes and I asked him if he would like to take them home to the kids and he was overjoyed...their entire troop walked over to thank me and that is when I found out they didn't have cable or satellite TV and they had only had a VCR for about a year and the only time they had movies was for each child's birthday...they got to go on their birthday and pick out one tape to rent at the gas station and then they made a cake and had popcorn and a movie for their birthday present. Their kids were the most important thing in the world to them and there is NO WAY they would have disrupted their children's lives like that for money to be on a TV show.
The Catholic family that lives next door to me now just had their 11th baby last month, their kids aren't as well behaved as my friend's in ND but they are about the same way, he works, she stays home and home schools all the kids.
There are people out there (probably some of us on here right now) that don't have 10 or 15 kids but we still struggle, 6 years ago we lost EVERYTHING we owned when my hubby was injured at work through NO fault of his own, our car, the house we were living in, our credit is now shot because of it. We had an auction and sold EVERYTHING but basic living items, and certain things that belonged to the kids that they wanted to keep, just to stay alive (I am totally serious, we kept what fit into a pickup bed and a homemade pickup bed trailer, that was it)...no one came rushing to help us out, no one even offered ANY help at all. We had enough in savings to keep everything going for 1 1/2 years and man did I try, in hindsight I should have just given it all up right away and used the money to live but I was trying to do the right thing and keep up on the payments we had made an obligation to pay.

That blog did not suprise me and only reiterates everything that I have been saying since that show began.

Ok, I just had a wicked evil brainstorm. I think it would be HILARIOUS if a bunch of us with kids the same age got together and did a John and Kate parody on youtube. OMG the possibilities are making me giggle! mwahhahahahahah
http://www.crazymommydaze.blogspot.com
I guess the biggest problem I had (if it's true) is the contract thing. It's ridiculous. Why is it such a big deal? And it's true, you don't see Jodi freaking out.
"Have you heard about corduroy pillows? They're making head lines!!"
I looked up the TWoP site (televisionwithoutpity, http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com) that was referred to in the above blog, and I did a search on Jon and Kate. There are 198 pages of comments for this show. The entries from June 11 until the 16th are all deleted (as mentioned in the above blog), and the last comment made by the Executive Producer on June 16th is, "This thread is closed permanently. Do not ask us to reopen it. Do not start a new Jon & Kate topic." Seems there are a lot of people who aren't liking the turn the show has taken, and why would they close the comments if what the above blog said is not true?
It has been obvious for awhile on the show that things have gotten out of control over how much this family is receiving. Kate can talk until she is blue in the face about how they are taking the gifts to give their children a 'normal' life... but they will not and can not have a normal life just for the fact their our 6 of them. It is reality... and basically, I believe they are raising what are going to be some very messed up children / adults. Do you suppose the grandparents have NOTHING to do with the family because they seem to have a problem with all of thise?
Sandra
I agree with all the gifts, at first i agreed that it would be a good way to give the kids some trips a gifts normal kids have, but now all these business are just using them to get on tv and J&K are eating it up. I have a feeling the gravy train will be running out soon!!! We should all (post on all mom websites) write/email in that we want Jodi back or we will boycott and see what Kate does then.
I have been watching Jon & Kate for a while now- people PLEASE.....if I had 8 kids I'm SURE I'd take what businesses wanted to give me- (and so would you if you are being honest with yourself) Maybe all of these Jon & Kate haters need to contact the companies if there's a problem with the things that are given to Jon & Kate. How many of us....need bread- hop right in the car and go to the grocery store,.....need a stamp- hop right in the car and go to the post office,....I'd love an ice cream cone for myself and the kids- let's just jump right in the car and head for the ice cream shop. Let's not forget ALLLLLL the things that Jon and Kate CAN NOT DO!!!!!!!!Even though they have a FEW days of vacation and a FEW trips to plces we alll would love to go doesn't mean that their life is all rosey!!!!!!! Give them a break. I'm sure there are some on here that if you'd ask- someone probably thinks your kids a BRAT too- I think we all spoil our kids one way or another. All I can say is better them than me and GOD BLESS THEM!
I think you've misread something. I think the consensus is that it's selfish of Kate to not let anyone ELSE get compensated. If it's no skin off of her nose, why is it a problem?
"Have you heard about corduroy pillows? They're making head lines!!"
I totally agree there are quite a few things they can not do as a family. I have three boys, a soon to be 5 year old and 3 1/2 year old twins, not exactly what Kate has... but I am not able to do too much with just them by myself either. But.... if you are interested, you can jump onto QUITE a few forums online and read about Jon and Kate. They are getting to do A LOT more things then I will ever do. They travel by themselves frequently for speaking engagments that they now ask $25,000 as an appearance fee. The children are left at home. I didn't watch the whole episode, but didn't they fly to California for Jon's hairplugs while the kids were home sick? I have never even left my children overnight with anyone else. So sure... they have it tougher in some ways... but they are making quite a good life for themselves off of the fact they have these children. I am finding I watch the show less and less lately.
Sandra
I have never liked that show....I cannot stand Kate. I hate the way she treats John she is a total control freak, and when something goes wrong she makes someone else deal with it instead of bucking up and doing it her-self. Plus all expense paid tummy tuck and vacation at the dr. home? Hair plugs? (and all the while you blame the hair loss on the kids) Um nanny, and house keeper, date nights and hair appointments at a fancy salon, American girl dolls for the twins with matching outfits all on one income? oh but you clip coupons at the grocery store and freeze your bread....Yup enough said I think, what a crock, way to exploit the hell out of your children you money hungry Twit.... Oh by the way your twin girls are absolute spoiled brats! I feel so bad for those kids....
their email is supposedly thegosselins@yahoo.com
check out my recent blog entry. she is such a rag!
if you google 'aunt jodi' our site is the second one that comes up! hah. maybe kate will see this post. wouldn't that be funny. i'm sure they get 100's of emails a day, but I bet they are enjoying all this drama. You would have to live on that stuff to have a reality camera crew in your house 24/7.

"the Succubus" haha nice!.
Oh my goodness! I never laughed so hard when reading something on Sioux Falls Moms! FREEZE YOUR BREAD! Too funny ryansgirl384! You got it all right, but I do love to watch this show! He!He!He! It is just so interesting and I just have to see what in the world they are going to do next or what she is going to say next...you just never know! I agree she is a TOTAL you know what, but just like all the drama that happens on here from time to time...I LOVE IT! :)
I just have to ask.. what is funny about freezing bread? I do it! Bread is quite a bit cheaper at the bread store, so when I get to town I stock up. We go thru quite a bit, thus my freezer currently has 7 loaves of regular Wonder Bread in it, 4 loves of Wonder light, and 5 packs of various buns. (I have an inventory sheet of my freezer taped up on my frig.)
Sandra
It's not the bread freezing that's being made fun of, it's that Kate makes a big deal to point out that she's doing all these things to save money like they're stuggling. Meanwhile all these companies are clamoring to give them all free trips and free clothes, who knows what else. It's just a little hypocritical.
I freeze bread, too.
The Cake goddess - Cakes for all occasions, desserts and cookies, too!
Thank you very much 3gsmom! That is exactly what is funny about it...not a person freezing bread, KATE GOSSELIN freezing bread! It was just so funny how ryansgirl384 said it all and ended it in FREEZE YOUR BREAD that made it so funny.
I don't know what to think of the blog either. It's hard to know who the blog person is to know if they are a reliable source or not. I agree that Kate can be over the top. I know that I don’t have 8 children, but I would think that a bottle of shout and all 8 of their yellow outfits would have only taken her 20 minutes to stain treat and wash. And it would have allowed the kids more fun at the bakery. But at the same time, I watched a re-run of the first one that they ever did. I must admit that re-watching that might change some of your opinions. The kids were, I think, 18 months. Jon worked 5 days a week, from 7-7. Kate worked a double shift, 6am-10pm every Saturday. Then, TLC came along. I think it's awesome that this family has gone from that kind of a schedule to one where she doesn't have to work and he doesn't have to work as much. I have been there done that with a spouse that puts in 70 hours a week. And there were days with 2 kids that I thought I was going to loose my mind. I say good for them. They weighed in their minds what was better, one day of family life vs having their show. I would have done the same thing. Kate is harsh, but I don’t doubt that she loves her kids.
If you go back to the June 24 entry, it says that the author is Jodi's sister.
Oh! I didn't read that one. Hmmm ... that is pretty bizarre to me. I still really like to give people the benefit of the doubt. I can say that my family doesn't like my inlaws either and really for no reason. I just hope the situation isn't what she said it was because that would be terribly sad.
While it is true that they did work super hard when the kids were younger and i am glad that she can stay home with the kids, but now not only do they make around $50,000 an episode but they also get all this free stuff that they can now clearly afford, in almost every show they are taking tags of the kids clothes, have you seen them in the same outfit twice??? i am all about helping people out but i feel like so many times people do all this stuff for one family (going over the top) and nothing for others, why?
I think I read they get $65,000 an episode. And I think I saw somewhere else that the outgrown clothes are sold at consignment shops. Pretty good when you don't have to pay for them yourself to begin with, if they do sell them at consignment shops.
I completely agree that sometimes there is over the top support for some and none for others. I think it’s just hard to say what we’d do in that circumstance. I mean, honestly, would you (and I don’t mean Jazzy Mom) be able to say, “please don’t give my children any more clothes” or “please don’t take our family all expenses paid on vacation”. It could be that they are just savoring the moment. I wondered last time I watched the show what would happen next year when the kids are in school. Are they still going to be able to support a series? The part of the blog I read said that when they say the kids have not been given scholarships, that that is false. I wonder, why would they lie about that? Especially so publicly, when it could be easily found out that wasn’t the case.
I know that it would be hard to turn down alot of the stuff! I am sure they do turn down some stuff. And you know this overwelming support will probably be gone soon, so i can see why they would take what they can. I just wish that these businesses would try to help more families and not just jump on the bandwagon of one family that other businesses are supporting, do you know what i mean?
I only have 2 kids, but I am a single parent and one of my children has multiple disabilities including Muscular Dystrophy. I had to stop working in order to be his full time care taker, and I just got through fighting with the insurance to not switch him and lose his physical therapist for which I drive him to 3 times a week. I also part time home school him as he can attend school for a full day, and drive him to and from school each day in order to suppliment the other half. We are strugggling just to make it, and sometimes that is even questionable. I realize that having 8 kids is so much more difficult than having 8, but John and Kate should be counting their blessings that all of their kids are healthy. The other family of sextuplets and septuplets have kids who suffered brain damage and now have CP. I am tired of feeling inadequate that my house isn't as neat as Kate's, or my dinners aren't organic, or my household products aren't green enough, or my kids aren't as spotless and not everything gets done. Kate has a man at home and a brother as well as crew to build furniture, and fix appliances, and help with the kids. Turns out even Kate doesn't measure up to what we see on T.V. I sure could use some help here. I would give anything for even my son to be able to get all of his medical bills covered including medical travel out of state which is footed by me and me alone.
